Previously, students and topical media had identified Lane as a scholar at a school for at-exposure to harm youth whose family said they were in shock over the events and asked towards privacy.
"The family wanted me to carry to the citizens of Geauga County and Northeastern Ohio that the house is devastated by this most recent event," the Lane family's attorney Bob Farinacci told local WKYC information prior to Tuesday's hearing.
"This is event that could never have been predicted. T.J.'s race has asked for some privacy at the same time that they try to understand how similar a tragedy could have occurred and during the time that they mourn this terrible loss during the term of their community."
The school district was closed attached Tuesday and will not reopen to the full for classes until Friday.
Chardon schools Superintendent Joseph Bergant has praised the actions of teachers, who he uttered had acted quickly to protect the students.
