NEW YORK (Reuters) - Billionaire New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg pledged adhering Thursday to give $250,000 of his hold money to the Planned Parenthood Federation of America later breast cancer charity Susan G. Komen with a view to the Cure withdrew funding for the arrange.

The Komen foundation had provided surrounding $700,000 annually for Planned Parenthood to prepare access to mammograms for low revenue women. It has cut off funding to Planned Parenthood, that also provides abortion, birth control and other hale condition services to women, because the cluster is under investigation.

Republican lawmaker Cliff Stearns is probing Planned Parenthood's appliance of taxpayer funds.

"Politics have not at all place in health care. Breast cancer screening saves lives and hundreds of thousands of women rely forward Planned Parenthood for access to care," Bloomberg uttered in a statement. "We should have existence helping women access that care, not placing barriers in their passage."

Planned Parenthood said the Komen settlement had succumbed to political pressure from anti-abortion groups. It said such groups require repeatedly threatened Komen over its affiliation.

The Komen basis said it does not bow to public pressure, that critics have mischaracterized its firmness and warned the controversy could distract heedfulness from the struggle against breast cancer.
